Thankgivings for the Victory!

1Corinthians 15:56-57~
The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Bretheren, this is a great piece of Holy writ. It means alot to me at this present time also. As many of you know I play soccer for the AHS Razorbacks and we are having a great season. We are the best team in the school's history. Our Record is 14-1-2, we have broken the single season goal record (we set it at 66 so far), we broke the most goals in one game (now at 9), and we are on track to beat the current record for most wins in a season (it is at 15 now and we have at least 2 games left on our schedule). And even though I lose sight of it quite often, it is verses like these that humble me and show me who is responsible for our record breaking season. It is not our coach, us players, or the hours of practice we have put in -of course they all contributed- but it was God! "thanks be to God, who gives us the victory" He is the one who has blessed us with our talents and blessed us with our spectacular season. Everyone of our victories was given to us by Him.

This interpretation of the verse may not be the main point God was trying to get across hen He inspired Paul to write this scripture. But it has really jumped out to me in that way. Surely the victory Paul speaks of is the victory over death and sin through the atoning blood of our Lord. But I can say with authority -because the scripture comfirms it- that all of our victories in every aspect of life come from God, through Christ.

Grace and Peace- Alex
